Overview

An African airline facing increasing competition sought to modernize its IT infrastructure for greater operational efficiency. Part of this initiative involved migrating to a hybrid cloud environment. Another part focused on adopting software-defined wide-area networking (SD-WAN) to improve the performance and reduce the cost of connecting the airline’s central hub, data center, and more than 60 remote sites.

Because the hybrid cloud environment and the SD-WAN greatly expanded the airline’s cyberattack surface, the airline opted for Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, with Fortinet Fabric Management Center providing end-to-end visibility and control. The centralized management also made it easier to add endpoint security and secure wireless access, leading to an overall outcome that exceeded the airline’s expectations.

“With all the SD-WAN and security processing integrated into a single platform, the price-performance of the Fortinet solution is unbeatable, but it is the Fabric Management Center that has made the biggest difference to our day-to-day network and security operations. With broad visibility from our remote network endpoints right into our data center and even into the cloud, we can see network and security issues as they arise and resolve them in a fraction of the time it used to take.”

The advantage of Fortinet is that the required technology is integrated in a single solution. This means that all components: the firewall, the switches, and the Wi-Fi access points work in concert to enforce a consistent security policy across the whole network. That feature makes the system simple to manage.”
